A closer look

Tradescantia Zebrina or Wandering Jew is well known for its herbal value but caution must be exercised and further research advised to verify its medicinal values. It really fits in with Malaysia's typical climate and can be easily propagated just by few cutting of its stem
This plant is known as Peacock plant (Calathea Makoyana). It is an evergreen perennial that loves moist condition. I first started growing it with just one single leaf through root cutting propagation method. It took few months but the effort is worth.
I first saw this plant when i visited a local wet market here in Chai Leng Park, Penang, Malaysia. I was very attracted with the tree like feature and wanted to get hold of it. So far i could not find out the name of the plant.
A Bucida Variegated tree. It will grow to a tall tree but I'm gonna try it on the pot and see how big it can grow.
This is another type of Japanese Bamboo plant. It grows very slowly and could take almost 10 years just to reach 1 meter high. The small plant in this picture is 6 months old.
This is a willow tree (Salix Babylonica)

This is a Maidenhair Fern. One of the most challenging plant to keep it green. It requires moist condition and unable to stand Malaysia's heatwaves. I have to put this plant under a shade of tree with shaded sunlight.

A typical yellow rose

Waiting for more blooms

This is another type of indoor maidenhair fern that can be found at any local nursery in Penang. It's the easiest among all maidenhair fern.

This looks like Pilea Depressa but i call it baby tears. It grows easily and very beautiful to look at it. It have to be kept moist with minimum or no fertilizers at all.

A close up of maidenhair fern.

Tradescantia Pallida. When it is mature enough, you can see a tiny pinkish flower on the tip of the shoot

This is a dwarf spider plant. A beautiful plant indeed

Caladium Humboldtii

This is a Geranium plant known as Mosquito plant. It has strong citronella scent when you touch it.
This is a Chinese Fringe Plant. It loves sun but i have seen it grow beautifully in shades with bright indirect light
This plant look alike the Cut Leaf Daisy plant. I am still looking for the real name though.

This is another type of butterfly plant (Christia Obcordata). The amazing thing about this plant is that it simply cuddles up at night. It will grow into a tree like plant with hard branches
A top view of my 4 month old Hydrangea grown from the cutting my grandmother gave me
This evergreen plant is known as Natal Plum plant (Carissa Macrocarpa). It grows like a bush with jasmine like flowers

The air purifying plant known as Spider Plant. It shoots new spider-lings almost weekly and require constant fertilizing

This pink plant is known as Aglaonema Lady Valentine

Oxalis Triangularis (False Shamrock)

This plant is one of my favorites and if you ever manage to notice...it does sleep at night by closing its leaflets. It also loves a good amount of fertilizer (not too much) and you will get a potful of this butterfly plant easily by just separating the bulbs

Ground Orchids (Spathoglottis Plicata)

Most of the time, i rather do not go for orchids mainly due to its special requirements but this ground orchid got my attention since it can be grown in potting soil and it loves moist condition. The blossoms seem to last long enough to keep me wonder.

Lucky Bamboo

This lucky bamboo thrives easily with just few drips of water everyday. However i notice that it does need a source of brightness

A small garden

A overview of my small humble garden that made my day...everyday.

Gloxinia

This was my first bloom of Gloxinia grown entirely from leaf propagation. It took 7 month and all the while i never notice it. The best part when i first purchase the original plant, i gave up after finding out that this plant will not make it under typical Malaysia climate.
